OnlyFans model and TikTok star Sophie Rain has said that the China-based i.e. TikTok won’t shut down completely in the U.S. She recently called out U.S. President Donald Trump for taking credit for TikTok’s survival.

She said TikTok won’t be banned completely in the U.S. because of the billions of users. A lot of people create content on it daily. Donald Trump has given TikTok on a 75-day extension in the U.S. after President Biden refused to enforce the ban before leaving office but, Sophie Rain says that the entire situation has become too political, strictly for grandstanding and it’s just silly.

Why is TikTok Getting Banned in the U.S.?

The short-form video-hosting app TikTok has been under a nationwide ban in the U.S. since January 19, 2025. The reason behind this is that the government is concerned over potential user data collection of U.S. citizens.

President Donald Trump proposed a ban on the app in the year 2020. He viewed the app as a national security threat. He even signed an order that was later blocked by the court. But, in 2024, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act was approved and signed by President Joe Biden.

After this, on 18 January 2025, the day before the deadline of the law, TikTok suspended its services in the United States. But, by 20th January, Trump signed an order that granted TikTok a 75-day extension before it is completely banned in the United States.

Recently, Ukraine’s tax services discovered that Ukrainian OnlyFans stars have reported an income of Hr 326.1 million which is about $7.79 million from 2020 to 2022.

Ukrainian authorities had requested data from the U.K.’s tax service on earnings of their citizens on OnlyFans. They sent out about  4,429 requests to declare their income from the platform. Out of which only 451 people filed taxes. The filings displayed the total tax declarations of $1.5 million in personal income and military taxes.

Although OnlyFans is banned in the country because of the adult content, many residents still use it to earn money. Ukraine’s tax services also got a court order recently to pass details on the money earned by its citizens on some sites to a law enforcement agency, without specifying which one.

It was reported by several media outlets that Ukraine’s Bureau of Economic Security was given names of Ukrainians earning money on OnlyFans. They also started to search for Ukrainian OnlyFans stars and models and charged them with Article 301 which deals with the display of pornography.

Parliamentary Finance Committee Chair Danylo Hetmantsev reported on Telegram on 18 December 2024 that “This is very important money for the country in times of war, and we are grateful to the girls for their responsible attitude and contribution to victory. Failure to pay taxes on time should not result in prosecution, as long as the taxes are eventually paid. Law enforcement officials share this view.”
